Digital Media Course
Signature Assignment

This page puts together all the elements that I have created in this course.

Instructional Gap

Teachers are considering leaving the profession at an all-time high rate (Walker, 2022). Therefore, completing the course I have designed successfully will help them improve their wellness and help their schools by retaining staff. This is an area of great need.

Teachers are busy people and need this guidance because they lack the time to do it on their own. Therefore, the course will be helpful, but because they have limited time, the course must be engaging, concise, and clearly useful from the beginning.

They probably have heard about self-care but don’t believe that bubble baths or other simple solutions are going to help their stress levels. They will be looking for something more significant.

Instructional Strategy

Learners in this course will work through learning modules and then put everything together into a final project.

In the modules:

1. Students will read a summary of current research about each burnout prevention strategy then write a paragraph to summarize the strategy.

2. Students will participate in a discussion board in which they share their summary and ideas about how to make it work in their lives. They will respond to at least 2 other people on the discussion board.

3. Students will log their use of the strategy for 7 days.

4. Students will write a journal reflecting on the effectiveness of the strategy and ease of implementation for themselves personally. Additionally, they will reflect on whether they would like to continue using the strategy, or not.

For the final project:

Learners will create a documented plan in which they include at least 3 strategies they will use going forward. They will include information about how the strategies will fit into their lives as well as how they will hold themselves accountable to their plan.

These are my completed assignments.

The media and completed checklists are available at each link.

Organizing Your Time from Chapter 9 Effective Time Management from Methods for Stress Management

https://psu.pb.unizin.org/kines082/chapter/organizing-your-time/

Overall, this is a high-quality resource. It was written by a college professor who is knowledgeable about health sciences. The quality seems to be great, and the information is organized in a logical way. There appears to be no bias and at least some accessibility features. It’s quite relevant and engaging for the learners in this course. It has relevant information and an interactive activity. This is likely a resource I would use or recommend.

This is a text titled Interdisciplinary Perspectives in Lifetime Wellness by Eric Richman.

https://csuepress.columbusstate.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1003&context=textbooks

It is openly licensed and is full of information about wellness that could be used to support the content of my course. The author is affiliated with Columbus State University and seems to be an expert in the field. It’s up to date being published in 2021. Clearly, he also had contributions from many other experts, so the content of this resource is going to be of high quality and quite valuable.
